The Carolina Panthers on Thursday released quarterback Taylor Tharp and punter Dan Zeidman to get their roster down to 79, one below the NFL limit heading to training camp. The Panthers will need to make several more cuts as they begin to sign their draft picks.

Tharp's release means the Panthers will go to camp with four quarterbacks -- Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, Brett Basanez and Lester Ricard.

As of this point, the Panthers have yet to sign any of their nine draft picks. Players report to training camp on July 25.
