The Patriots reportedly had Everson Griffen on the phone, ready to pick him at No. 89, before the Panthers called to trade up for Armanti Edwards. The Panthers' target is somewhat laughable, but the important nugget here is that we now know Griffen is a target for New England. The Pats currently don't pick next until No. 113 (the 15th pick of round four), but could make a trade up to No. 99 (St. Louis) if they're serious about Griffen. Otherwise the Rams would probably love to add Griffen to their pass-rushing corps.

We have a clue what Patriots may want to do with their fourth-round pick tomorrow.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Patriots had USC defensive end Everson Griffen on the phone and they were planning to select him before the Panthers swooped in and made a trade offer the Patriots couldn't refuse.

New England had two consecutive picks, so they traded the No. 89 overall pick to Carolina, then drafted Ohio wide receiver Taylor Price with the No. 90 overall pick.

The Patriots' next selection is the fifteenth pick of the fourth round.  If any other team wants Griffen, we suggest trading in front of New England
