Why all the blame on defense? It seems to me that the defense has been singled out as being the biggest disappointment but yet the offense gets a free ride. In this Ravens game, the D held them to under 21 points. Not bad considering 3 starters were out, plus Kemo is done for the year, plus they were not blitzing, yet they still managed a int & a few sacks. The offense then proceeds to go 0-7 on 3rd downs but no red flags, plus they had all the starting o-lineman, Smith, Jake, Hoover, Moose, Jarrett, King, & Rosario all playing into the 3rd quarter with only one touchdown to show for. Theres only so much a defense can do if the offense is going 3 & out all the time. |

Re: Why all the blame on defense?hear you bro...loud and clear...but when and offense does struggle the D is suppose to keep a team in the ballgame...not miss tackle after tackle, give up uncontested passes and give up two drives for what 170 yds...surely no one thinks that this D is incapable...talent is there but my goodness...in any line of work employees ahve to look at the bottum line a in so far as productivity is concerned...so far the first team D has accomplished little... |

Re: Why all the blame on defense?Did you notice at all that Joe Flacco had over 200 yards passing in 2.5 quarters. That's not good for a defense at all. The Baltimore Ravens won a superbowl with Defense. In a 4-3 might I say. The D-fense looked horrible against the pass and improved against the run. This Ron Meeks style of play and the success of this Defense lies in the ability of the front 4 to rush the QB. That pressure is what causes turnovers to occur. They have to get better up front, because the only player that seems to have a real desire to get to the QB is the rookie Everett Brown. Hopefully we can get everybody else on that page. And oh yea, he looked good against the run as well. |

Re: Why all the blame on defense?I guess it's because we have never expected too much from our offense. I cannot ever think of a time when I felt like our offense was straight DOMINANT. I mean, spurts of excellence yes but overly impose-your-will no. If we have always been a defense minded team and that is our strength, when that goes south, you start to panic a bit. Offense does not get a pass but is a work in progress. The D posed to already be there... |
