Is anyone still really upset?

I know it is just preseason and a lot can change and happen before the regular season and during it but as of right now our FO look like geniuses again IMO.  With the way Brown has played and with the way Goodson has dominated the preseason (most yards by far of anyone on our team due to his contributions in receiving, running , STs.).  He has more yards that even the QBs.  Does anyone miss that first rounder next year even with our DT issues I still say as of right now it was worth it.  I mean we may have gotten two contributors this year for a guy who could have done nothing next year.  I mean they are beast and the later round guy more so than the earlier for right now.  It seems like we got two second round caliber picks for a first rounder.  As long as it is after 15 I think we got by far the better end of the deal right now.  Thoughts?

Re: Is anyone still really upset?

I don't like the way the Panthers are trading away future first round picks. Having said that, I do like what we got for those picks-Otah last year, & Brown (who looks good thus far) this year. You also mentioned Goodson, who is just tearing it up right now, has got to be the #1 steal of the draft. Overall it looks like it's been a good move. We'll see how it ends up playing out.

Re: Is anyone still really upset?

I'm really thinking that the plan is to trade peppers for a first rounder after the year is over, if he has a good year.  If not, we got shafted and he isn't going to get any money from any team.

We cannot forget he has to agree to all that jazz too. Probably won't happen but just like this off season, it's nice to ponder...either way WE GOT SHAFTED

Re: Is anyone still really upset?

well he did sign his tender now. that means we can ship him wherever we please whether peppers likes it or not. the problem is what team would be crazy enough to pay someone a million dollars a game???? well i mean besides us of course.

How can we trade him at the end of the season when his is not under contract??  We can't.  We would have to franchise him again, hope he signs the tender, and then try to trade him.  We'll be in the same situation as this past offseason only his cap number goes up 120%, so he'll count 20+ million against the cap.  No way can they franchise him again and resign Davis, Marshall, and others.  In addition Williams will be entering into the final year of his deal in 2010 so he will need to be extended.  The only way Carolina gets any compensation for Peppers is if he is traded during the season this year which I think is unlikely or he comes to his senses and resigns long term with Carolina.  If one of those two things don' happen he needs to be allowed to walk out the door.

Re: Is anyone still really upset?

I agree with jayj6, we've got a two'er with Brown and Goodson.  We've still got a 2nd rounder for next year...and how many 1st rounders have we seen flame out over the years?  As for Peppers, LET HIM GO!!!He's not worth 16.7mil much less 20mil, if we franchise him again.  We've got some up-and-comers at ends.  Leonard will be a help in the middle...anybody that weighs 325lbs ought to be able to plug up the middle, if he can pressure the qb, that's an unexpected plus!
