I doubt Steve would've posted what he did if he didn't have some inside information.

Assuming we get this guy, what do you think?  He has the experience to start, let Leonard/Hyden/Favorite battle it out to be the backup.  We'd have 2 run-stuffers to rotate with and on pass rushing downs Leonard has experience at doing it and Hyden is quick too.  Couple that with Everette Brown and Peppers and I PROMISE our defense is top 10.

If the front 4 matures this year and the DT is at least mediocre-to good, then with Thomas Davis playing at the Pro-Bowl level he is projected to this year, Beason continuing to be the best MLB in the league, an emerging Conner to replace an ailing Diggs (will happen halfway through the season), and a secondary that doesn't have Ken Lucas in it, then lets see what we have:


Martin/Captain:  Both rookies but both ready to contribute

Gamble:  He's a shutdown corner and has been top 5 in the league for a long time at his position despite no Pro-Bowl trips.  Forget what Mason did to him and consider it a blessing.  Fuel for the fire.  The way I see it is this:  last year Lucas got picked on because Gamble covered his man and Lucas sucked.  Now that Marshall is ready to step in, QB's will throw toward Gamble more because Lucas isn't there to leave people open.  He will regain shut-down status and be top 3 again in stopping passes like he was in '07 when we gave him his big contract.

Harris:  He's still good, tackles hard, and strips the ball.  I love this kid.

That's all the pieces we need.  Fill the rest with role-players who run their routes properly and with a much better pass rush and I PROMISE the defense regains it's '05 status.  We should be the best Defense in the division, which in turn should mean that with us having an offense as good as NO and ATL that we should repeat as NFC South champions!!!
