Ok so next year...There is a lot of talk about Fox being gone. Obviously Bill Cowher is on the list of likely candidates. I was just talking to the guy I work with and if that was to happen it is likely Meeks will be gone and we will switch to a 3-4 defense. I then started thinking of all the smaller fast D-Lineman we have that would be AWESOME as outside Linebackers in a 3-4. I actually think the personnel we have could play really well, the only thing we need would be a BIG nose tackle to plug the middle.

Re: Ok so next year...The 3-4 defense is the steelers by tradition, I'm not sure if thats what Cowher would want. I like the 4-3 because you use the same 4 down linemen in the 4-3, nickle and dime defense also. If Cowher do want to go 3-4 then what happens to most of our de's? They are way too small and if you make them olb's then what about Anderson and Thomas? And can any of our de's cover? |

Re: Ok so next year...Well look at Hardy and Brown. They are pass rushers and some would say undersized DE's. But yeah I see what you mean. I just heard Cowher would not go to Dallas because he wants full control, and he is far more likely to get that action at Carolina. I like Meeks and his scheme so I am not sold on the 3-4, I just though we have some undersized pass rushers that would be good in the 3-4.

Re: Ok so next year...I'm a big fan of showing the offense different looks and I wouldn't mind having a 3-4 package like Baltimore but a full time 3-4 I wouldn't be in favor of. Are there any Suh like D tackles in college ? |
