Carolina should trade smithNot that I want to see it, I'm pretty sure he wants to win a ring and he ain't going to get it here. It's going to be a long while before panthers win a superbowl. Get some picks out of him would be nice to go along with the first or second pick of the draft next year Carolina might have. With all the injuries that just happened it's really hard to see the panthers winning another game. |

Re: Carolina should trade smithI THINK YOU CAN STILL TRADE AFTER THE SEASON IS OVER. I hate to think of Steve Smith going, but it's going to be another couple of years (at least) before Carolina is a real contender again. By that time Steve Smith will be on a decline and not much use to the Panthers. They are going to need some D-line help next year, probably still some wide receiver help, and definitely some O-line help, and the best way to find all of that is through the draft. One of the reporters mentioned that JR wants to make sure Steve Smith retires as a Panther so he can put a statue of him out front. If I were an NFL team owner, would rather have a Super Bowl trophy. And if anyone in this league deserves a ring, it is Steve Smith, and he aint getting it in Charlotte. |

Re: Carolina should trade smithIf Che$$e were involved and I had to bet it on the Panther immediate future as a team in contention I probly would have to place my moooolla on the higher % that that the club is 1-2 yrs away from being in contention...but go ahead and call me the silly eternal optimist...but I had involvement with a college team that went 1-9 and the very next year did the national playoffs and finished ranked 5th in the nation...so really anything is possible...probable maybe not, but possible yes...otherwise the NFL would not be what it is a league were teams can and at times do get fixed in a hurry...maybe setting ones self up for dissapointment...but come this off-season, free agency, draft, into mini's and OTA's, thru training camp and into the season...I am not going to resign myself to the thought that the club has zero chance to be the team to win it all...what the hedouble...that would be zero fun, thrill and excitment... |

Re: Carolina should trade smithLet's just get a offense guru and a QB that can get him the ball. Sam Bradford is throwing to scrubs but he can move the chains. I remember a time when we used the short passing game as almost a run play |
