starting st pierreIf Pike after being with the team this season is not a better alternative than St. Pierre then I think Hurney has made a bad decision and should be held accountable and fired. If however the plan at this point is to assure the worst record and first pick because they have their sights on a particular player then he should stay. I have never thought we would play to lose but I wonder if that is not the plan now. |

Re: starting st pierreI can see the logic in NOT starting Pike despite what the obvious would suggest we do. We drafted two QBs for the future this past April and to throw Pike to the wolves against the Ravens might just be cruel and unusual punishment. Think David Carr with the Texans in 2002 for a moment. With our O-line, if we put Pike in at QB for the first time against a DEF like the Ravens, he's going to get his bell rung about 10 times. Think about what that would do to a kid's psyche. Hell, what if he actually got injured severely? I can see Fox not wanting to ruin a career that hasn't begun behind our pourous line. St. Pierre has at least faced the Ravens before with Pittsburgh. He'll get eaten alive too, but at least we haven't really "invested" in him as part of our future. We can't win this game the way we've been playing, so why get a draft pick hurt in the process? Same reason we put DW on IR and didn't try to get him back for this game. |

Re: starting st pierreIn the history of football there has only been 1 David Carr . You don't get better in practice put him in the game so he can learn first hand ! Pike needs to go out there take control of the offense and not be scared to audible or take chances or he can just throw the ball away the main reason why David Carr is David Carr |

Re: starting st pierreThe only reason I can see not starting Pike is because they are trying not to mess him up in the head. The Ravens will smell the blood in the water and be relentless with a rookie back there. Pike has not had a chance to get used to the speed of the game and would feel the pressure hard. It's like they are putting St. Pierre out as a sacrificial lamb...
