No one knows for sure.  Remember last year he came in as a Rookie and got 10 TD's and 850ish yards and his missed all of training camp too with that toe thing.

I don't THINK he's going on IR and I really do think he will play Sunday.  If he plays the Eagles have no chance to stop us from scoring because they are really weak up the middle and we should run all over them.  If he does go on IR then DeAngelo will get closer to AP type carrying numbers because I promise there is no way Goodson is the same calibur RB that Stewart was last year.  I love Mike, but we've seen enough of him to know he fumbles the ball (where Stewart didn't).  He would still be the #2 back and get several touches, but instead of a 60/40 split like we saw last year, it would be more like 75-25.  In all honesty, if D-Will got AP's carries he will do 1800+ yards this season and 20+ TD's.  Our O-line is that good and D-Will has the confidence now and the smarts to make it happen.

While that's great, "Double Trouble" works so well b/c it keeps both our backs healthy and will extend their careers greatly.  Not to mention the reliability of it.

What's exciting is if J-Stew is better and Goodson can play some slot receiver, imagine the playmaking he can do with corners and safty's tackling him instead of line-backers and D-Linemen.  Would really be explosive.  I just don't like the thought of him getting a lot of carries where 300lb guys are hitting him b/c he drops the ball.

In any case, DeAngelo is a top back in the NFL and he's 100% healthy!

I think we signed a 4th RB b/c he was better than the ones we cut and you always have to be prepared.  What if DeAngelo gets hurt and Goodson is the #1.  We'd need at least one more back.  2005 should remind everyone of what happens when your top 3 backs go down.  You get special teams guys like Nick Goins attempting to run the ball and it's not pretty.  Hoover is too old to get a lot of carries now so we'd probably be stuck with trying to get Fiametta to run the ball up the middle.  Basically, it would be ugly.

By getting the 4th RB he can be playing with us now and assume the position.  Hopefully the only snaps he ever takes are games when we're up like 30 points in the 4th quarter or something and we are just giving him some live action.  Yea, we are 3 deep this year at RB in terms of playmakers and quality guys, but if Stewies playtime is limited we are only 1 in-game injury away from needed the #4 guy to step in and help out.

But deep down I truly believe it's just one of those odd injuries that goes away with time and that playing on it won't make it hurt more.  Next Monday we will know how his season plays out assuming he plays Sunday.  The medical staff can evaluate if playing made it worse and we will make the decision about IR then, in my best guess.

Wow you guys over think.  If you have a two back system and that is how you want to play then guess what you need two back ups.

And I still think 28 is more of a scat back.  Look at his big runs and how they happened.  He has the frame to be a bruising back but he does not run that way.  Not saying he can't and does not ever just that his natural style is not that.  Go back and look at the runs.  D. Will is our bruiser and Stew is our homerun back.  I am telling you guys.  I said it before the year last year and he did nothing to dissuade me from this even with his stiff arm (which is used more by the homerun type than a bruiser who would just lower his shoulder in that situation).

Goodson can take Stew's place in double trouble IMO.  I am comfortable with that short term and I think his "fumbles" (bc some of them were not according to the wording of the rules) will be addressed.
