I doubt this will happen this late into the offseason.  The Panthers have already made their moves to shore up DT and I doubt they'd want to bring in what will eventually be an over-paid old guy, especially with a lot of their moves indicating an trend in trying to make a younger d-line.

If it were to happen, I'd be unhappy.  We'd be thin at DE instead of DT and I'm not quite comfortable starting Johnson, yet, or relying more heavily on the backup DE's.  While I like Brown and what he has shown, I don't know if he's ready to make the jump to starting DE with essentially a nobody on the other side of the line.

With our new scheme predicated on getting pressure from the front four, I'd rather keep the elite DE in a contract year rather than the guy who would have just signed a fresh one.

Also, the fact that Seymour was having problems with New England indicates that he's out for money, not winning, so I'm afraid he'd sign the contract and then coast until he retires.

Sounds good to me, The Panthers would get a proven leader to shore up the D line and free up about 15 million in salary cap space. Seymour could play LDE on run downs and rotate to DT on passing downs with Brown and Johnson comming off the edges. They could also pick up Shaun Smith to add to the DT rotation. Oh please let this be true.
