Re: Jake's Probably out in Cleveland once the lockout ends...I actually don't disagree with Panther. Given that we paid him millions to wear a Browns uniform, we wasted the money by not keeping him to mentor the younger QBs. Now that he's gone, though, I'm just saying that he likely won't return. |

Re: Jake's Probably out in Cleveland once the lockout ends...I'm not so sure we wouldn't take a shot at letting Jake mentor Newton and Clausen. If the Browns do release him and he clears waivers, we could sign him to a reasonable 1-2 year contract and allow him to retire a Panther at the same time. And seriously, who are our alternatives for a veteran that would be much better? McNabb will become a Viking or Cardinal, and let's be honest, we don't need his pricetag and he's going to want to start. Bulger will probably go back to the Rams and backup Bradford, Kolb is going to go somewhere and become the next Derek Anderson (the bad Derek, not the 2007 Derek). Troy Smith? No thanks. Trent Edwards? Not much of a veteran. Daunte Culpepper? His ship sailed when Chris Harris took out his knee in 2005.

Re: Jake's Probably out in Cleveland once the lockout ends...If it's a mentor we wamt, it makes sense to have Jake back. In light of the kind of money the team and players are making, what they pay Jake could be just "chump change." I think Jake would be a great pickup for this limited role of coaching up Cam and Clausen. He'd make a super ambassador for the team and he could retire a Panther. I think the cost would be nominal. Just my opinion. |

Re: Jake's Probably out in Cleveland once the lockout ends...Bring him back, I'm good with that decision. He needed to go when everything went down. I mean how many qb's could have sustained that type of drop off and stayed with the same team? The short of it is though, there is no way they would ever bring back Jake- |

Re: Jake's Probably out in Cleveland once the lockout ends...Unfortunately his great leadership is why they should not bring him back. He still has a great influence in that Lockeroom and if we want/need a young guy to take over and make it his team a vet with that type of pre existing connection should be our last choice. That being said he still has friends and those who love him in out FO so.....to answer the question yes I think they would bring him back. |

As a side note. What happened to this site?!?!?!? It is sad that people have to preface their comments just to alleviate whining for having their own opinion. Just my opinion. Ha! |
