Okay, here's one of the more hackneyed forum topics... "Wow, _________ got released! Should we pick him up?"
I know, I know! And here I am doing just that. However, Castillo's only 28, he played for Rivera in SD, and he would provide good depth on the line (not to mention he could be had on a one-year deal for a cool million - maybe less). At 6'3", 290-lbs, I figure him to play under tackle (UT) in the Jim Johnson 43. If McDermott has all the working pieces for it, this defense can wreak havoc. Look how effectively San Fran was with it last season! Castillo is relatively the same size as a guy like Nick Fairley (6'4", 298-lbs), who also plays UT in Detroit's 4-3.
If Rivera & Co. think we need the depth with Neblett getting suspended and maybe getting cut, I'm all for picking him up.
Thoughts?
