4th time the charm

The Observer had a telling article concerning the frustrating obvious...The Panthers giving up opening drive TD's to all 3 opponents thus far this season.
All of these drives went 80 yds and within those 240yds given up the Panther D is 0-6 on 3rd downs-Ouch...thats 6 chances to force a punt or even a FG!
Atlanta on the other hand is the only team in the NFL to score on all 3 of their opening drives...
In no uncertain terms it would be a most positive mental boost if the Panther D could be the 1st team to derail a Atlanta opening drive---a forced punt, holding them to a FG would be great...a turnover even better!
Here is to wishing them the best of luck in that opening possesion!

Re: 4th time the charm

Important but we need to bust heads and lay them to bed the entire 60 minutes, not just the opening drive. We could negate the opening drive but give up 40 points in defeat. I'm more concerned with stalling their run attack and limiting the 20+ yard plays that they usually get us for. Their TE's always run amuck and RB's have big showings. I say blitz and hit ryan early in the mouth! Beason needs to wake up and lead this defense, something he has yet to start doing this season. Keuchly is going to feed off of him but he needs to start the blaze. The defense only needs to play half way decent, which is all we can expect this year. The offense on the other hand needs to step up and clown their D like we know we can. Listen, we were tops in the league last year in many a category and need to get back there quickly. Like Rivera said, we are only 1-2, the season is still young. This win would boost our confidence and put us right in the hunt this early season.

Not to be a downer guys, but my confidence is all busted up right now.  It's gonna take this team showing up and playing like they have a set of balls before I get my hopes up again.  That said, I hope we kick some Falcon tail-feather this Sunday!

Re: 4th time the charm

Yes but the saints are a good team and we beat them when they played pretty well. The giants are the champs and we blew an egg against them which we vow never to do again. Typically we have done that every year with one or two games. And tampa always plays us tough, no matter who is expected to win. Is the nfc south not the best division in the nfl? Yes it is.
So, we can bounce back even if we lose Sunday, which we won't by the way. We have too much pent up hostility and getting embarrassed on national tv to lose. Our pride is at stake and these guys will answer the call, no doubt. We are still young with many new faces and deficiencies. Add a tough schedule and things get murky early. 2 games in 4 days, c'mon man. That should be illegal. No excuses but we will beat the falcons!

Re: 4th time the charm

Saints are not a good team. They are a lost team looking for an identity that they apparently got from their missing coach.  They are 0-3 but probably will be 0-4 by the end of the weekend.  Plus their D is and has been soft.  And we didn't do anything to stop them defensively in the end.  We were out of sync versus TB and NY.  But NO is the only game that we had Stew 100% and he should be back for this game so we will see.  Maybe he is the spark plug on offense.

of course that is all true...but dont kid your self that opening series on D will be important...mentally! These guys need a mental boost...they are frail and if they crumble opening up they will have to fight the "Here we go again battle as well as the Falcons!!!"

IMO opinion they need to figure out toughness is a courageous action...not just a verbalized slogan...They gotta prove to themselves they can out tough their opposition!
