Re: Atlanta

I, for one, would have been perfectly fine with going for it on fourth down no matter what the outcome would have been.  It was a chance to make a statement!  A chance to show an aggressiveness that this team has lacked!  A chance show the best team in football that we were better than them...in their house!!  You don't give a team like that a chance to come back, especially with a one point lead.  You put their asses away!  I admit I felt pretty good when the ball was downed at the one, but that was short lived.  It's just common sense I you ask me.  We had a hell of a lot more to prove than they did, and we got our chance to prove it and blew it!  Terrible decision to punt...that's my own opinion and I could care less about what anyone else thinks of it!

Re: Atlanta

BTW, this learning experience/growth/maturity BS is getting old.  These are things that teams should already know!  Things as simple as covering the damn sideline when a team trying to get out of bounds.  If we have to LEARN to play balls out for the entire 60mins of a ball game by giving other teams victories....I'm concerned!!

That loss took a lot out of me.  I literally set on my couch almost in tears afterwards.  If we get the ball rolling, good!  But until then I refuse to get excited about this team week in and week out, season after season, only to be left in a miserable hole after each game.  It's time to put up, or shut the hell up!

I'm done with this rant!  I'm sure I'll regret it later.

Re: Atlanta

I feel the same way with the hurt dawg. My wife can't stand when we lose because she knows its going to be a loooooong week, no doubt. I was already thinking how great a week it was going to be when they punted to us. I thought, we got this. Then after the ball on the 1, I again was dreaming of where this team is going this year and in the future. There is no excuse but it falls on Rivera (for not going for it), Cam (for fumbling at such a crucial time), and Nakamura (for giving up the big play). All these "things" are the result of immaturity (guys who lack big time play experience) and are fixable. My heart got ripped out by mattie ice (I hate even saying that stupid name because it is so g-y). But the better team won because that is what experience does for you. We will regain this week and vie for a playoff spot this year. This was our final wakeup call, for we know if we lose more than 6 games this year we are out of it. It is a marathon, after all. I'm still sick this morning and my family has to deal with me until we win one.

On another note, ask Greg Olsen where his heart is right now with what he is dealing with at home. That breaks my heart even more. JRich was there for him and his family in a big way this past week and we are destined to do some special things in the future. This team is special, no doubt. There will be bumps and bruises along the way.

I STILL GOT KALIL'S BACK

Re: Atlanta

and the play getting totally over looked in this game is the play where the Panthers got HONKED, HOSED and other wise HELD...AKA TOTALLY F"D OVER over!!! And how long is T Gonzalezes allowed to HOLD, MUG and/or other wise RAP Munnerlyn on that screen play to Turner that went for the TD!
He was holding him for at least a full 3-4-5 second count!!!! No way should the regular NFL officals have missed that non-holding call...it was right smack dab in the middle of the field...and in the open field no less!

Re: Atlanta

another thing that stunk re: going for it on that final 4th down instead of punting...the ball was initially marked making it 4th and inches...it worked out bad when Rivera called for the review because then it went to 4th and a big long yard after the officials watched he replay!

I feel he would have went for it 4th and inches...but when it became 4th and a long yard I reluctantly agreed with the punt as the right call...probability being with the defense stoppin them! No one ever ever never never thought that bomb would actually happen...unreal that it did!

Re: Atlanta

Either way, the future is bright with this team. I know we want to win now baby! And we will, but just going through growing pains. In my opinion, if a man cannot get one single yard in the nfl, he should not be worthy of a start, so the play should have been Cammie over the top! He could have stretched for the yard and he had something to prove to the fans, the team and the opposing team due to the aforementioned fumble. Still, cuss Rivera for not going for it and cuss him if they didn't get it and falcons have an easy short yardage field to work with. Thats the life of a coach and, such is the life of millions of Monday morning quarterbacks.

Re: Atlanta

Imagine the controversy today if the fumble wasn't recovered by Tolbert. By the way, I thought he (Tolbert) could catch well? He hasn't proven a thing to me as of yet.
