REEVALUATIONAt 1-4 and a open weekend IMO Rivera and Co. need to take stock and reevaluate what they are doing with Newton and the over run game reliance on the read option.

Re: REEVALUATIONHas anyone noticed that Cam NEVER audibles at the line. I don't think he can read defenses. He is given a play and sticks with it. I think that may be a big factor in our lack of offense. He just forces the play. |

Re: REEVALUATIONI've resigned myself to the fact that Cam needs this year to learn how to play in the NFL. Coaching staff need to pull the reigns back and make the process easier. I also agree with the Smitty trade. I love his loyalty but want to see him enjoy success at the backend of his career. |

Re: REEVALUATIONYes, sophomore slump. He really needs to start playing team ball and step out of the limelight until off season. I like having him as a star, but is it warranted yet? And can he separate from that temporarily and be a team player? They were ripping him this week, with talk of over hyped and fluke rookie season. Who has a fluke rookie season? Ok, so maybe a few have but I know he is destined for greatness, just needs to mature. This team can use the humility right now to prepare them for the future. We seemed too giddy coming out of training camp. And Cam's leadership has to shine through or no one will follow him. |

Re: REEVALUATIONdoes anyone think they have overloaded him with reading type resonsibilities and thus undue pressure?

Re: REEVALUATIONIt was obvious that the read option was doomed when we played TB to open the season. It takes to long to develop, and the defensive ends are clearly prepared for it come game time. As it was stated above, we need to incorporate a power running game that is quick, and directly at certain points of the line of scrimmage. That is Stewart and Tolbert's strengths, as well as mixing in some counters, tosses, and power Os for DWill to use his speed to the edge. IMO this relieves a ton of pressure off Cam, and would allow for a more productive play action attack.

Re: REEVALUATIONwhen you consider that the great QBs in todays game...as well as those from other decades...dont, did not and never ever ever did have as much run and pass game reading pressure on them as does Newton it just makes you say wow they are putting waywayway to much on a 23 yr old 2nd yr QB! |
