Re: Hurney is Gone!!!We had two of those games in no and atl. We played well in all phases and should have beat the dirty birds. But inconsistency has plagued us for years. Like Cameron said, we need to be able to cruise some games not always play from behind and struggle to win. Wilson and romo both beat us with short passing game plays and thats what Cam needs to get his confidence up. Short pass game with running power I and triangle makes for a long day for defenses. Throw in the ability to scramble for first downs by an athletic qb and we win most games. All we have to do is what other teams do to us on a regular basis. Olsen has success but we reluctantly throw to him for an entire game, while other teams use their TE the whole way. Im perplexed. |

Re: Hurney is Gone!!!Im curious to see if the rolling of Hurney's head has done a dag-gone thing to shake or wake up Coaches Rivera and Chud on the offensive play selection category!!!

Re: Hurney is Gone!!!I think it is safe to say that the days of Rivera saying..."well we lost but are in a building process with a young football team" are over!!! Should have cleared that statement thru The Bigcat cuz I think he is sick of hearing that as much as are the fans!!!!!

Re: Hurney is Gone!!!I just posted something about a hypothetical coaching/GM change, but I have to say that I still have faith that Rivera can right the ship. Our defense has taken another hit with Beason going on IR, but we're deep at the position and should be okay there. (At CB, though, we could be in trouble.) I agree with cornhusker that we need to pound the rock up the middle and knock off the delayed hand offs, the read options, and the Raider-esque bomb passes. We're just not fooling anyone with this stuff. Starting Stewie was a great idea last week, but we didn't give him a chnce to do what he's built to do. Run North and South with authority! He's a lot like Shaun Alexander (5'10", 238-lbs vs. 5'11, 228-lbs). Use him as such!!! Likewise, you've got the predecessor to Jamaal Charles and Chris Johnson in DeAngelo Williams. A super-fast, illusive back, who can squirt through the hole or turn the corner and find daylight. Smitty can still catch the smoke route and turn on the burners, so hit him at the line of scrimmage and let him take off! LaFell has proven he can catch the difficult passes to move the chains, so use him for that purpose. Olsen has great hands and is a big target in the endzone. Make that happen! We have the tools, but not the vision right now. Stop making Cam feel he has to win the game for us. There are so many more moving parts to this machine that we're forgetting to syncronize. |

Re: Hurney is Gone!!!A-stinking-MEN to that comment! It is ridiculous for this staff to put so much on Newtons back! Fact is, he cannot win games for the Panthers...ALONE that is! It is a team game and the more all the bullets in the 6-shooter are fired the better the trigger man becomes! |
