I think Rivera is too nice.  I think this team needs someone who can scare them and really convince them their jobs and livelihood depend on production.  There appears to be a lack of urgency overall with the team.  The "locker room" has been criticized for having no leaders, while players are an important component of leadership the Head Coach is the leader.  If we have a lack of leadership which Hurney stated when he left that is Rivera's fault.

i tend to think that Coach Rivera inadvertently/subconsciously created/extended a not having to win now expectation/culture with all his talk about being a youthful team in process of building...learning what it takes to win etc.,

In point of fact, when looking at the clubs starters the past 2 seasons, they have/had plenty of veteran players starting and they should have been held to a higher standard of winning in the here and now!

Speaking of NOW...well Rivera is NOW scrambling to get these guys up to speed on winning...cuz he has in a certain sense...cooked his own goose by not holding them to a win in the now standard from the jump!!!!!
