Panthers sign AJ Feeley...McCown put on I.R

The staff may not be that high on Moore if they are signing someone to be a back-up.

"Adam Schefter is reporting on his Twitter page that the Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback A.J. Feeley to a deal. Feeley will back up starter Jake Delhomme.

Our View: Caolina was rumored to be interested in Feeley, and they moved quickly on him after placing backup Josh McCown on the IR. Feeley will serve as the team's backup, but if Delhomme continues to struggle he could find himself starting before the year is out."

"Adam Schefter is reporting on his Twitter page that the Panthers have placed quarterback Josh McCown on the season-ending injured reserve list. McCown was injured after replacing starter Jake Delhomme on Sunday against the Eagles.

Our View: The Panthers already had a difficult quarterback situation, and now this move almost guarantees that the team will be bringing in a free agent. Jeff Garcia is an option, and he could push Delhomme for the starting job if he is signed by the team. The team also appears interested in former Eagle A.J. Feeley."

Re: Panthers sign AJ Feeley...McCown put on I.R

Just think about what would have happened if that had been Delhomme that took that hit?!?!  Can you freaking imagine having to sit through an entire season of Mccown as the starter?  At least we know that Delhomme can be good.  There isn't any hope for Mcclown.

As far as them not being that high on Moore,  I think it has more to do with the fact that as of now we are sitting with a struggling vet, a 3 year kid and an undraffted rookie of the practice squad.  My guess is Moore is No. 2 at this point in time.

what if delhomme took that hit? i would imagine i would have to pray mccown got hurt also so i can see my boy moore light it up. Moore is the only guy that can throw it down field without the ball being a guarenteed pick.

Re: Panthers sign AJ Feeley...McCown put on I.R

This is not at all surprising. Well wishes for McCown, but it was obvious that he was not a future starter.  Feeley also has prior starting experience and hopefully will be an upgrade as a backup.  Ideally, Matt Moore would fit the role of future starter, but the fact that he is listed as third in the prior rotation as well as hiring Feeley indicates that he is not the starter of the future (note that the fans are not present during practice and it would seem he has not won exhibited that role).

I think the best that the Panthers should hope for is for 1) the offensive line to fix their problems blocking and 2) Jake Delhomme figures out his timing and confidence issues.  Like it or not it appears with Jake's contract he is our quarterback for the next two years.  I think everyone should route for a turnaround with Jake whether it is his unkowlingly tipping plays (as some have suggested) or whatever else the problem is.

Jake and Fox have indicated that all the practices have gone well and I would actually believe this, so if that then what is the problem?  Did Philadelphia know plays by unintentional tipping or was it the blitzing that the Panthers were so unprepared for?  There are just a few days to fix this,,,, but my thoughts are let's fix it and beat Atlanta!!!!

Re: Panthers sign AJ Feeley...McCown put on I.R

I was listening to the Frank and Buc show and Brenston was tearing Delhomme a new a$$. He said that Delhomme is "garbage juice" and that unless the Panthers get someone else in there, the Panthers will be lucky to go 6-10.

Also, Buc said when he was playing with the Panthers, that one of the defenders to him (after the game of course) that JAke would always lick his fingers coming out of the huddle if it was a pass and would do that if it was a run. Still doesn't explain his hecisions though.
