Re: Is firing Mark Richardson the beginning?Yeah, we also refer to them as "Fairweather Fans". When the going gets tough....well you know the rest. I was talking with a friend this weekend about rabid fans and the such and we said the same thing. At all the home games at BoA you have all these fans who say, "Hey sit down down there" and "Oh I wish they would move so I can sit and see". While I admit if there is nothing going on you need to sit once in a while when the action is going on you need to stand a bit. Completely obsurd. And I don't like beligerant a**holes either especailly if there are children around, but thats not what we are talking about here. |

Re: Is firing Mark Richardson the beginning?Perhaps so, but I disagree with your premise that this firing/resignation/whatever was a prelude to cleaning house at the end of the season. Personally I am not sad to see him go. I used to wish he would back when he was more invloved with the personnel decisions, that was when the Panthers went 1-15 after letting Buerlein go. |

Re: Is firing Mark Richardson the beginning?Fox is a very good coach. I won't call him a great coach, and I don't think I have to explain why. But he's very good. However, very good coaches can and do get fired. Sometimes things just stagnate for them. Case in point, Shanahan and Gruden. Both excellent coaches. But if you aren't getting results, sometimes it's best for everyone involved if you just move on. Suffice it to say, it would be strange seeing Foxy coaching another team, as he undoubtedly would be. But let's not sit here and act like he can continue to turn in losing seasons and stay around forever. Sure, his record is pretty solid. But out of seven full seasons he has been here, there have only been three winning seasons, and we are hurtling toward another losing season now (I think we can salvage it, but that's neither here nor there). I'm just saying that it's not out of the question that Fox could get fired, and if he did, it might not be a bad thing. Unless we hired Romeo Crennel to replace him. In which case I'd shoot myself repeatedly in the face with a bazooka. Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not advocating that Fox get fired, just saying that there's precedent for teams firing good coaches and that sometimes it's necessary if that guy ain't getting it done for whatever reason. If we're gonna fire somebody though, it should be our team witch doctor, as he/she has not been able to break the roots that have been put on us regarding injuries. |

Re: Is firing Mark Richardson the beginning? Here, here! We've got the injury bug. Or as my Dad used to say about us in times of ill fate, "We're snakebit". Hopefully that won't continue. Last time I checked, the entire roster of the Carolina Panthers weren't on the cover of Madden '10. |

Re: Is firing Mark Richardson the beginning?JRich wants a RING! Fox has had his chance, this may be his last shot. JRich isn,t afraid to pull the trigger, if Fox can't get it done JRich will find someone who can. If we don't make the SuperBowl look for Fox to "resign". |
