Re: Official FIre John Fox thread

Well I think we need a different direction on the offense and need to tighten up the D. But I would not fire a coach in the middle of the season and if I could avoid it, I would not try to can the season after only 3 games.

We suck and we are bending over for everyone right now. But lets give Fox and crew a few more weeks before calling for his head. Delhomme has been a "bit: 10 or 20 yards" off on some of his throws but honestly if Moose wasn't gliding on the deep int last night it might have been a catch, and if Smith didn't change his route in mid throw it might have not been a pick 6.

Am I disappointed yes, am I pissed about how we have played, DAMN RIGHT I AM, but please guys how many coaches have started in the middle of the season and done anything. We need to support who we have, Reed said it in his post No Help is coming this season. We have to demand that who we have here right now fixes the problems and turns this thing around.

If not then we can revisit this post at the end of the season. I might even help you carry a sign or two. But give it a chance. There is no hope if you don't give hope a chance.

I love it!!!  Lets fire the most successful coach in franchise history.
Let's just keep Fox. We are off to a great start this year. Broncos fired Shannahan who was their most successful coach in franchise history. Sometimes all good things must come to an end. Just because Fox is the most successful coach in our history, means that he should never be fired?? What a joke.
I didn't say he should NEVER be fired, just not right now.

It has nothing to do with stupidity.  It is about having a winning philosophy and sticking to it like what got the Steelers the success that they have today.  And when did we trade our 1st rounder for a DT?!?!?!?!?  I missed that tidbit.
You are correct and thank for pointing it out to me.  We already traded our #1 pick before we traded for DT from Browns.  49ers will get our #1 pick in 2010.  We traded our #7 for Josh McGown who didn't make the 53-men rosters.  The trade for DT is for undisclosed draft pick so it looks like we will have just 4 picks in 2010 unless we get a supplement draft.  So want to tell me why you thought it was NOT stupid to keep Peppers around??  What was so smart about holding on to him and pay him about 20% of the 2009 salary cap?  How is keeping him helping us being 0-3??  Care to enlight us all as we are really curious why you did not think it was stupid??

In my strong opinion, we are really better off letting Peppers go, but guess what?  Because we are stuck with him, we can not acquire some of good veteran players that is available in the Free Agent market such as Derrick Brooks, Mark Jones (Titans re-signed him this week and admitted it was a mistake letting him go).  Mark Jones and Ken Lucas are few key players who had to be let go because of Peppers.

Know what really would be interesting??  At end of the season, Peppers says he wants out of Carolina and then see Carolina Panthers decide if they want to franchise tag him again and pay him $22 Million Dollars (IF NFL and NFLPA come to term with CBA).  Do you think Panthers will still hold on to him and risk losing more key players or do you think Panthers will finally smart up and let him go??  I hope Peppers doesn't insist on leaving Carolina after this season because if he does then Panthers will be laughingstock in the NFL.

Re: Official FIre John Fox thread

jayj6,

I forgot to add one more thing.  I was trying to explain my point here that if we had decided to trade Peppers away for two 2nd round (2009 and 2010) then it would be more practical because it gives us a leverage in draft.  Do you have any idea how many teams are really NOT wanting to have 1st round because they will be stuck with paying unproven rookie megamillion dollars contract.  I mean, look at 49ers as they are in standstill with negiotating Michael Crabtree because Crabtree is demanding too much as a unproved rookie.

By having double 2nd rounds in 2009 and 2010, we can pick more players and pay them less than what 1st round normally get or we might be able to trade up for 1st round real quick if there is somebody we have eye on and the team want to give up their 1st round (If the deal is right).

If we had gone with this avenue, we would be doing exactly what Dallas Cowboys did in early 90's and what Steelers are doing by going with many young players and develop around them.  Peppers is about to reach the age where he will soon be out of his Prime and he is starting to watch out for himself by using his leverage to "Pay me or else".  We probably would have gotten two Everette Brown or three if we had more picks.
