Re: Official FIre John Fox threadNo way we trade Smith or Beason. We probably won't get anything for Peppers. If we tag him again and he doesn't sign elsewhere, we are in the same spot as this year. If we don't tag him, he walks. In order to trade him, he has to agree to the deal and sign with us before we can trade him. He's made it clear, despite his double speak, that he is not committed to being a Panther. Let him walk and use that money to patch some other holes on defense. But this isn't even about Peppers or Hurney's poor handling of his situation. It's about Fox. I hope he succeeds somewhere else because he's done a decent job for us, but it's time to let someone else get a shot at it. He's not getting it done. |

Re: Official FIre John Fox threadActually Fox doesn't make most of the decision-making. It is the management! To tell you the truth, I think that Carolina would have got a lot more out of Peppers IF they did not demand too many first rounder for him. Why would we want to spend big money on two first round for two years when we could do what New England did with Matt Cassel? We could ask for two 2nd round?? Or 1 2nd round, 1 3rd round, and one active player that can contribute to the team immediately?? Why go after two 1st round and end up spending BIG money on BUST!? |

Re: Official FIre John Fox threadThey did that to keep him. They want to keep him at all cost for some odd reason. I mean I like him and think he is a great player but no one is that great to keep at all costs, no matter what. And that is basically what they are doing. |

Re: Official FIre John Fox threadMaybe that is why I like him or maybe bc he is a good guy (the few times I hung out with him; we weren't buddies but crossed paths several times at UNC), but the bottom line is they should have ACTUALLY tried to trade him instead of that BS "we are looking for two firsts" line they were sticking to IMO. |

Re: Official FIre John Fox threadYeah I can't understand the infatuation with him to be honest. He took the entire game off last night and was getting blown out on the outside multiple times. It was like he was playing his first rookie game. Finally the announcers started calling it what it was. Pep is screwing us with no vaseline. |
