Now, before you go and put this down, fully read through it and give deep thought to it....
I've looked at salary numbers... Yes, Peppers is getting a butt load of money from us... and could be possibly resigned at the end of the season... but will anyone buy in on a trade for him.... probably not... especially for the money he wants and what the Panthers want in return....
Now, considering OTHER players that have a signigicant amount of money, and I know everyone loves him.... BUT....
We trade Smitty for the max we can get... I think if we get rid of smitty we fix delhomme... hear me out here...
Delhomme has a problem with fixating on Smitty... If you look at all his interceptions from last season and this season, 95% of them are when he's going to smitty... and now everyone in the league is spying on that transition.... yeah, we've masked it a few times, but all in all... the delhomme to smitty connection has been all but lost... getting rid of him will force delhomme to spread the ball around and to stop being so predictable. We could possibly get a #1 and #2/3 for him... enough to get us a QB, OL, and DL in the draft and address WR/DB and more OL/DL later on....
There are more teams out there willing to give that up for smitty than there are for Peppers... We can still use him on Defense as well as the other younger players on DEF and regroup the DEF for next year.... We would be able to go after McCoy, Tebow, Pike, Pryor... and have them come in and make an immediate impact... Sam Bradford is a BUST. The injury he has suffered has many doubts surrounding his return now and his possible NFL future... (SEE REFERENCE HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER QB WHITE FROM OU...)
I love smitty, but with Fox's loyalty to Delhomme and his contract extension, getting rid of Smitty is probably the last line of defense to get Delhomme back to his way of old....
