J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?I noticed Stewart missed his 5th straight day of practice Sunday. I read that he won't be playing in the Giants game tonight either. Is his heel cause for concern or are the Panthers trying to play it safe? |

Re: J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?I would say they are playing it safe. We have a new HB that will get some play time and that is a good thing. We will see however... |

Re: J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?Think the fact that they are having to 'play it safe' is a statement about the underlying potentially very serious nature of this injury...28 has been able to practice...what 3-4 times since playing in the AZ game...so I think things are a bit beyond just playing it safe...I'd say they are playing it extremely safe and have their fingers crossed bigtime on this injury---shoot 89 hurts his shoulder (and 89 is a huge-huge piece of the Carolina O) and they let him come back 2 days later...but they hold 28 out???? i'd say it is much more significant than anyone wants to admit... |

Re: J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?i am sure they are playing it safe and besides Goodson has been very impressive in camp so there's no rush. Didnt he go through a similar situation last year with his toe? I think he turned out pretty well by the regular season, so im not concerned YET. |

Re: J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?I hear what you are saying, but I don't think the Smitty inj and Stewarts Heel are comparable. First, Smitty's shoulder inj was a deep bone bruis, which is basically a pain and nothing else. If it feels good then the inj is gone. Its not the same as Stewarts heel. The guy is running on that thing all day long and if it is sore there is no need to push him when he is 2nd on the depth chart and we are not playing any games that mean anything for another month. I would rather them rest the guy and give his inj time to fully heel than push him too hard and he get taken out for the year in a meaningless preseason game when they forced him to come back to quickly. Besides 89 probably won't play tonight. My guess is that if Smitty had inj his heel he wouldn't play durring the preseason at all. |

Re: J Stew, reason for concern or playing it safe?am on-board & all for giving 28 all the preseason time he needs to get his heel fixed up...the less pounding per sq inch on a sore achilles tendon the better for sure---because of the natur of his injury and all the caution it is requiring---i just am hoping against hope that it not a lingering injury which defintiely limits 28 awesome abilites as a RB who needs healthy legs!!!! |
