Can the Bye make all the difference?

At first I would be quick to answer that question with a resounding N O, but I started thinking about it and here is why I think it can.

1. First time this season we have a completly healthy squad-including Harris who has been missed big time in the secondary.

2.  Although he is older we have a BIG S.O.B up front and with 2 weeks to prepare and his experience he ought to be able to contribute right away.

3.  The Bye week always changes us.  Our offense was not great the first half of last year and our defense was.  After the bye week our defense fell off the face of the earth and the offense exploded.  Could this bye take a awful D and O and turn it into a monser? I sure as hell hope so.

4.  We play Was, TB, and Buff the next three weeks.  Sure we are 0-3 but we are a whole lot better than our record would indicate.  Win these three games and we can gain some momentum and confidence heading into the toughest part of the schedule.

Is it a lock-No but there is reason to think that we could be a very different team on the other side of this bye.

Thoughts?

We hopefully should be and being a bit healthier never hurt anyone.

My only concern is that we seem to do quite poorly after a bye-week.  We seem to come out a bit lethargic, IMO, but we've lucked out and got what should be an easy slew of opponents to get things started.

Thats what we were saying last year when we played the Raiders and Lions.  Difference this year is that we can't come out of the bye any slower than we went in.

Yeah I think last year we went into the bye and rested and took it easy. this year I think they are going in and working. Nothing lights a fire like a reality check... So to answer your question, it defiantly can. Our team has the talent to win it all, hopefully this will get them in the frame of mind to do so.

we barely beat Oakland 17-6 last season after the bye. I remember the defense doing pretty well that game and the offense (other than DWill) looking sluggish. Then we all know what happened after the bye in the first round of the playoffs. So personally, I am really nervous about what we will look like after the bye. I know we will be healthier but thats what I thought last year going into the AZ game.

yeah but that game was an annomily because Delhomme had the 4 int game, which was a third of his reg season total, and everyone's defense looked good against the raiders last year.

ok so the next game was a 31-22 win over Detroit, that was only 24-22 until the last 5 minutes. Then we got pounded by Atlanta 45-28. Sorry, this sounds really negative, its just that I dont know what to expect coming out of this bye.
