Re: POST GAME WRAP

*The DT position is a gigantic concern...settling for DT's that are not good enough to hold a position on another team doesn't appear to be the answer to me...not sure who or what the team would or could trade for a quality vet DT but think this avenue would best assure a proven run stopping DT...the young guys just are not close to being read to roll -v- high calibur NFL O-lines

*Tackling was subpar to say the least and physical tackling is a big part of how a D sets a tone/image/identity...creating turnovers by stripping the ball is also important---but it seems to me that the stripping part comes in after a tackle is securred...it looked like the fellas were more concerned about trying to get a ball stripped loose than about physically punishing a ball carrier...i hope that trend does not continue...a D needs to be physical...last nite the Panther D was not.

*John Fox is probably the most conservative...just run base stuff in the preseason than most other coaches...so it is certain that they have much more in the arsenal/playbook than will be displayed in the practice games...

*Dislike saying it but the initial thought is that the O is going to have to carry the team thru the first qtr. to 1/2 of the season....

So true.  Fox even admited they were going to play it easy to not give the Giants any of their secrets.

Re: POST GAME WRAP

That is funny bc I thought the D outperformed the O in all the depth areas.  Our D was decent.  Yeah they got beat up in the run but really all three of those guys had one big run that was more than half of their total yards to pad their stats and those big runs came on the outside for the most part even Jacobs was a sweep even though it technically went in between our G and T.  But then again this may have been bc they had lack luster WRs.  But seriously what was with some of those calls??????  Since when did they throw out the "ground can not cause a fumble rile" and down by contact definition??????  And what about when Godfrey was held and pushed in the back on that Ward TD run???

Glad you caught that because I thought I was crazy.  Didn't see the Godfrey call, but I would believe it.  I think the Giants got away with a couple of lucky breaks in the ref calls.  Still got some work to do though.

Re: POST GAME WRAP

Oh yeah a lot of work.  That first team O was just completely lack luster.  Many people looked lost out there.  But the QBs overall I though actually moved well in the pocket which was refreshing to see for a change.  And gog bless the QBs after JD that had to play with those backups!  They will need to work on there footwork a lot more!  LOL!  (laughing bc it hurts!)  Even on the JD fumble though there was NO POCKET AT ALL!  Osi embarrassed Gross and then there was serious penetration up the middle JD tried to get rid of the ball which is what he should have done but there was really nothing else.  The only saving grace was that Gross recovered the ball and made up for his big time mistake.

I agree that the O didn't look stellar...but when the first D gets gashed on the ground with 10-15-20 yd runs that is an issue...that being said, in as much as the O played it very vanilla...so did the D scheme wise, but holding the LOS (the DT's in at that time got handled) and tackling are elementary parts of a physical D and they didn't take care of biz in those areas...at all...Just had hoped to see more out of the first D in terms of being more physical than the nyg's offense...not the case

Re: POST GAME WRAP

Reed just wrote an article that says the first team D was the biggest disappointment last night I would argue it was the first team O.
