What happens when you have one of the weakest receiving corps in the league? 1 receiver that used to be great but has lost a step and a whole cast of mediocre talent? I'm sorry but not many QB's could pass with the crap we've built up on the bench.
And football generally comes down to 2-3 big plays to inflate passing numbers. Jake tries big plays and even when he makes good passes the receiver (including Smith) fail to make the catch or complete the route.
Yes, Jake has made some terrible passes and has sailed some balls. But even his perfect throws are failing to be caught.
D-Will and Steve Smith both botched TD passes. If you don't admit that you are too blinded by your hatred of Jake to have a converation with.
Fact: He hit D-Will in the hands with a perfect spiral in the endzone.
Fact: Smith had one on one with a rookie, had a step on him, and the throw was perfect.
2 big plays for 10 more points than we ended up with. We would have had 31 points if those 2 catches are made. Jake would have had 2 TD's, 0 Ints, 250 yards passing, 60% completion, and 100+ Passer rating. Go ahead and blame the QB. You're the one looking like a fool.
I'm one if not the quickest to bash Gohomme when he plays a bad game but you can't put this one on him. Fumbles, dropped passes, and horrible route running along with two big passing plays by the Saints lost this game. Gohomme hit DeAngelo square in the hands and it was dropped, Gohomme laid one out to Jarrett on the fly route and it went right through his hands, then Smith, who I agree has lost a step or two this season, blew his route at a critical time in the game again.
