Tackling......

Ron Meeks was known as having a fundamentally sound defense in Indy so what has been going on with Carolina? Both games our starting defense is missing tackles all over the field; it has been really embarrassing watching the defense play during the first two games.

Next week, Carolina gets another chance against a team will run the ball. I hope our tackling improves real soon since this season we go against some of the best running teams in the NFL.

On a side note....I hope Beason is fine and will be 100% for the eagles because we need to win to get off on the right foot

Co-sign.

I am hoping they are saving up for the regular season, but if not, I am truly disapointed in what I am seeing. Seems once you get past the LB's you have it made. I am tired of watching Godfrey slide off of people.

This.  Godfrey has been awful this preseason.

Re: Tackling......

Yeah godfrey hasnt looked good, the 1st defense looks to be playing lazy or something-ronny brown side stepped chris harris last night and harris just slide off him missing the tackle? Harris is one of the hardest hitters in the NFL-that alone says that the panthers defense are playing it safe right now until the regular season

Re: Tackling......

Well to be honest Godfrey should not be looking this bad bc THE SECONDARY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TACKLE RBs THAT MUCH!!!!!!  I mean it is ridiculous.  The boys upfront should be stopping the RBs and at the very least SLOWING THEM DOWN!!!!! I mean these RBs are getting past the LBs at darn near full speed!

Bottom line is tackling is a big no huge problem.  Should have worked less on stripping the ball and more on wrapping up!  But I will take into consideration that they are learning a new system and all that, but I will not let Pep use that as an excuse when he is one on one with Long.  And I know he was a Pro bowler last year but so was Pep.  That article where he acts like he is not worried about it is kinda sickening. A new system has little to do with OL play in general.

I couldnt agree more. & the thing with Pep-he didn't wanna play for Carolina, but Fox and Hurny insisted on bringing him back, now all he has to do is show up & collect his money. It's obvious from the way he's played thus far that he is gonna be the Pep of 2007. Either that or he's saving the good stuff for the regular season, which we all hope. The D-line all together has just been terrible.

Re: Tackling......

I believe Peppers will have a big year this year. This is basically another contract year for him. Haynesworth didn't want to play for the Titans last year and before he got injured, he was the favorite for the Defensive player of the year award.

I believe Peppers is just being cautious right now since he doesn't want to get injured when it doesn't matter. Also you need to remember he will play against the Giants and the Dolphins and probably doesn't want to show their tackles too much. That is why I believe that during pre-season you should never play teams you play in the season because Carolina is playing vanilla on both sides of the ball, it is kinda boring to watch.
