Not jumping ship

But these 2 game seem very reminiscent of the old offense where it was always just sluggish and uneventful. The Henning days...ah remember those? Remember how he used to just sit on the ball and never open anything up-just run, run, run and when that didn't work, he would run some more? I thought we were starting to transition into maybe an offense first team (with the run game now in tact) but it seems as though we will once again be looking forward to watching the defense come on the field. The problem is, our D is looking depleted and can't tackle worth a darn. PrimaDonna db's or something.

Re: Not jumping ship

Don't jump ship just yet.  By the last preseason we may begin to see just what we're going to get....play calling, both on offense and defense may be a bit vanilla.  Do you think every team Miami will be facing have taken note of that trick play Sat. night?  Way to go dolphins...I'm not sure that play will fool anyone in the upcoming season!  You just can't show your total package in the preseason.

Re: Not jumping ship

I have convinced myself that everything we've seen this preseason is a front. It doesn't make sense that this team has fallen off so far and so fast. I saw the clip of Harris  falling off of brown for Miami's TD and thought that showed no effort. We all know how hard he hits and he was in position to wipe brown out. I think everyone is holding back and coaches are not showing anything. Peppers has done nothing and shown no changes in what he will be doing, yet he says he's excited about his role in Meeks new scheme. I'm convinced we are going to see a much different team Game one...(please don't burst my bubble fellas.)

Re: Not jumping ship

Boring days of Henning? So the Wildcat was boring? And besides, its always been Fox calling the shots. The 3rd & long draw plays and whatnot were his doing. This is still the same team as it was with Henning, the only difference is Fumbles Foster is gone and we have a great starting RB now.

We still do that, but the main difference now is that we actually have good RBs. We've seen 3rd and long situations with Davidson as the OC, and what happens?-Fox calls a running play, then we punt. It's the same thing with Davidson as it was with Henning, and it's because of Fox's unwillingness to change it up and try something new. Henning doesn't seem to be running the ball every friggin time now that he's in Miami. As far as the new D goes, they have just look awful so far. Hopefully they'll show what they really got by the time the regular season starts. I think they will get better when they gameplan, but I would be surprised if it was alot better.

Re: Not jumping ship

Yeah, the Wildcat is pretty boring, and stupid. We glamourized it out of neccessity. Like Rucker said, if they keep running that the D is gonna know what they are doing everytime. What a joke. And if you haven't seen the vast difference in offensive scheme since Davidson's arrival, you're simply watching another team. Conservative? Yes from the owner down. Run first? Yes, the franchise would be built on it. But I like seeing what our offense comes up with now compared to the dry play calling from Henning. Even our TE's are used much differently than before and they are still block first minded. Getting rid of Henning was the BEST thing we ever did (besides fireing Seifert of course).

Re: Not jumping ship

This is hilarious.  Guys......remember.... this is the PRESEASON.  It doesn't mean jack.  I think we are all just eager to see the cats win after the way last season ended.  The panthers don't show anything other than pure talent in the preseason.  No thoughtful plays...no preparation...nothing like the regular season.  The thing about the preseason is that 2 losses mean the same as 2 wins.....NOTHING.  Sure we have not looked great, but we looked better against miami than we did against the giants.  The preseason is for making mistakes and learning from them.  My guess is that the guys will look sharper next saturday, but will still be careful when it comes to injuries.  Don't look for anyone that is already on the team to put his body in a bad spot until it counts.
