Another take on Fox/Hurney AnnouncementJust wondering if this is a scenario like the one playing out with Jake and Trgo last year. Making a way for them not to look like they are getting fired. I know Jerry appreciates what theyve done and wouldnt want to let them go in a way that wouldnt honor what theyve done. Also Tom Sorenson hasnt spoken with Jerry Richardson, but a 'source'. No one has said they are coming back to date and Charlie Dayton simply says that “There’s never been any report to the contrary...They have a contract next season.” Of course they are, but thats sounds like a little spin to me. Just seems to me a report would state yes they are coming back, but it says they have the option to come back leaving a door for them to leave....im not saying im just saying... |

Re: Another take on Fox/Hurney AnnouncementMost head coaches get extensions so they are always coaching with a 2 yr guarantee. My understanding is they are welcome to come back but no extension. That isn't much of a vote of confidence. It is possible Fox can get more guaranteed years/money from some other team, if he can he might take it. |

Re: Another take on Fox/Hurney AnnouncementIt was pointed out somewhere today if Fox can get a better deal(more yrs guaranteed) from another team than Richardson would not be on the hook for 6 million next year. Pretty smart way to handle this if you ask me. He is a decent coach who very possibly will be pursued and than Richardson doesn't have to pay him. If you fire him he gets 6 million and a new job. I also wonder if Meeks has maybe shown he could be a head coach after all, if fox left. |
