Jonathan Stewart

Just a thought so don't destroy me because I wouldn't want this to happen.

With the emergence of Tyrelle Sutton as a pretty solid backup RB, would it be feasible for the organization to seek a trade for Jonathan Stewart and get some top picks, or maybe a top WR in return?

Thoughts.

Re: Jonathan Stewart

With the depth we have built at RB either D Will or J Stewart can be moved.

Which is going to be controversial.

Patriots and Broncos off the top of my head both could be extremely interested in some sort of huge trade.

This is a best case scenario working out after how we have drafted the last few years and building a line that can make good players great.

Re: Jonathan Stewart

HMM....What about dealing Sutton. He was probably "auditioning" the last few games anyway.....

Re: Jonathan Stewart

Deangelo Williams ---- 2010: $725,000, 2011: Free Agent

If no CBA is reached D Will is (rightfully so) going to make a metric sh!t ton of money, if it isn't he still will but we have a better chance at retaining him with salary cap.

Stewart has longer under contract, not finding exact numbers atm.

Sutton, etc are icing that have more value in our system than to any other team.

Re: Jonathan Stewart

We need to keep DWill at all costs. I can agree with trading Stewart away with the quality backups we have.

Re: Jonathan Stewart

Neither if these will ever happen! Are we forgetting we are a run based offense? What's with everytime we have success at one position and a deficiency at another we began clamoring to trade away our strengths to beef up our weakness. It just sounds absurd to me. With the nagging injuries we have had at RB it should be obvious to everyone that we have to have both 28 an 34 to maintain our ground threat...not to mention this is a two back league. We need to get better at WR but certainly not at the expense of the ground game. I really believe our recent improvement at the QB spot will go a long way in bolstering our passing game.

100% agreement. Both 34 & 28 have been ultimate team players these past two seasons and the Panther idenity on O is founded upon these two guys at present. Yes...it is very much a two back league and the Panthers have the very best pair...why give/trade away a team strength! Plus...see Denver Broncos RB situation in the '08 season...the more quality backs the better...so do not trade Sutton either!!!!
