Starting Left DT

If the Panthers don't sign a veteran DT, then who do yall think should be the starter? Favorite has gotten 4 tackles, and Hayden has 2. Favorite has a tackle for a loss that sticks out in my mind. Also, anyone else think Matt Moore should be the #2 QB, and McCown be cut all together? Why not let Cantwell be the #3 QB, he looked good against the Giants. Plus cutting McCown would free up alot of money that could go towards a run stopping veteran DT

Re: Starting Left DT

personally i think they should give lonnie harvey a chance. hes the closest thing to kemo that we have on the roster right now. hes 340 pounds so u know he can atleast stop the run. thats the big concern right now. plus look him up on youtube. his swim move really reminds me of a young kris jenkins.

Re: Starting Left DT

Nick Hayden will probably be given his opportunity.  He is yet to impress anyone but he will probably get the nod.

Agreed. They seem to be high on him, and I'm not really sure why.

Re: Starting Left DT

Hayden has been over matched in every game he has played in. If you watch the film you will see him get blown up play after play. We ned a fix at the DT spot.

had my hopes up on LH as well...he just must not be delivering in practice...he surely has the size...perhaps over all strength and holding ground at the line of scrimmage is the issue...

i will say that thus far Favorite plays with a ton more passion and energy than does Hayden...

At the end of the day...if they are not able to bring in a run stuffing vet...it will be a rotational situation opposite DLew...and speaking of D Lew...here is to hoping that he can step up his game as well...he really is ranked as a 2nd tier guy as veteran DT's go...perhaps he can find an extra gear this year!!!!

Re: Starting Left DT

And thats important to note that these guys may not be getting done in practice. You may have a gamer all day long but if he can't listen, has a bad attitude, refuses to learn the D, whatever-you may not give him the opportunity. He may be on a short leash. Just like Haynesworth, why wasn't every team knocking on his door this off season when he ended up being highest paid defensive player in history? Because of the negative BS you have to put up with sometimes. Good enough in an emergency/back-up but not for full time starter. Kris Jenkins' lack of enthusiasm is probably still resonating as well. I can still hear it..."Coach, it's too hot and Im hongry. Can I go inside and drink a beer"? "No Kris, do some sit ups"
