CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers signed free agent Max Jean-Gilles to fill a huge hole at right guard Sunday night.
Jean-Gilles received a one-year contract, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. Terms of the contract were not released.
Jean-Gilles spent the past five seasons with the Eagles, starting 25 games from 2008-10, but was cut after the season. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals but was cut again on Saturday.
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Jean Gillis should help fill a void after starter Geoff Schwartz and then potential fill-in starter Garry Williams both went down with season-ending injuries.
Monday update: To make room on the roster, the Panthers have cut veteran safety Sean Considine.
